25th November 2023
Combined Counties Division One
All good things come to an end, and Jets fantastic run came heavily to an end at the Boundary against one of the division’s top sides, Berks County.
Jets were heavily thumped a few weeks back at their pad ( Ascot FC) 9-1 so as tests go this was as big as they go.

Jets had some promising early attacks
Jets started brightly, a few early attacks brought much hope but the visitors were ruthless in pouncing on errors with their extremely high octane work rate and press on Jets.
12 mins gone the first goal, Jets rallied but their mistakes were high and they were overplaying then, with 35 min on the clock, two more goals in three minutes finished the contest, and the management started making changes.
A stern talking to and obvious disappointment at the break, more changes and, to be fair to Jets, a much more solid second half. Jets were unlucky not to get on the score sheet and at least get some reward for their efforts.

Andre Lopes goes close
Twice in the opening ten minutes of the second half Lady Luck evaded them, with the post and an exceptional clearance off the line denying them a comeback.

Jets goal under pressure
Jets held out until late in the game when a fourth was added, and that was cruel on Jets, but lessons were learned. The run does not make you invincible, it makes you set a bar that if you drop below the game is lost !!
Jets were not at their best but this is no “we were poor so we lost.” Berks County are a superb football team with relentless energy and will almost certainly occupy one of the top spots in the league and push Amersham for the auto spot.
9-1 down to 4-0. Yes, an improvement. The pitch following three games in a week on very wet days was difficult and the bobbly surface helped neither side.
Jets man of the match went to oncoming substitute Archie Sykes, who tightened things up for Jets.
