Honours Even Not Enough For Jets

Jets dug out a 2-2 draw with friends and local neighbours Broadfields United on a cold Tuesday evening. Realistically, the result will probably not prove good enough for Jets to battle off the threat of relegation as these lower-table games are must-win matches on all counts for the bottom-of-the-table Jets.
Jets, in all honesty, carried on from Saturday’s very poor performance in the first half and were possibly lucky to only be a goal down at the break. After Diego had let Former Jets player Kristian slot at the back post for the easiest of goals 0-1 at the break.
The Jets management Dave and Tom went ballistic at the team and made clear that the time of soft soap in them, because with a young age has come to an end, and that the clear facts of football will be bluntly pointed out to them. All the players were given a short time to prove they could stay on the pitch for the rest of tonight‘s games with an eager full bench waiting their chance.
Jets were improved in the second half, and whilst not at the top of their game, made the game far more competitive, Then a master substitution by the staff drew the game level when Owen Ayres is put on as a substitute and scored within 25 seconds of his entry into the match to tie up the match at 1-1 following a scramble of chances.
Jets now were in the ascendancy and had Broadfields pinned for a while, and it was no surprise when Kieran Patterson clean broke to put Jets to one in front with a solo goal.
The lead was held until stoppage time. When yet again jets were to falter the referee now stole the show with a spate of cards that led to a player from each team’s dismissal. Jets were first to suffer when substitute and debutant Isaac Olaleye was shown a straight red with a decision that had both dugouts scratching their head when a tackle that was clearly a slip was seen as a deliberate tackle from behind and got the straight red, to rub it in 10 man Jets were to suffer from the resulting free kick, Broadfields equalised with an unchallenged header at the back as Owen Ayres went from hero to Villain holding his hand up to ownership of failing to jump with his man at the post 2-2.
The game somehow extended long into stoppage time number and tempers frayed a little, and a Broadfields player was also shown a straight red following a small altercation on the pitch with several players which was no more than handbags, but the substitute was shown a straight red by the match official. Luckily, in many ways, the match finally ended with probably a fair result 2-2 as Jets were not in it for at least the first half and a section of the second before battling back and taking control. Unfortunately for Jets this result really will not prove good enough for their fight and things must improve in the remaining games.
One bright thing to come out of the game was the excellent form of young Ben Delicata playing at centre half and proving to be a clear Jets Carlsberg man-of-the-match player on the night.
