Jets Refuse To Be Grounded

Jets were forced into changes at high flying Burnham when Henry Dudley flew the nest to Dublin and Dan Naylor was ill on Saturday morning.

The staff brought back Tom Inch himself to fill the midfield and revamped up front with Bellotti still AWOL letting National Rail down by working.

It was a more defensive Jets, but pushing on the break, as the hosts play the Astro perfect using speed and ground play.

Jets keeper Lewis Lavin was cautioned early so that put him on tender hooks but he made up for it with three super saves, one a full length stunner in the second half.

Sean Giordmaina was lost to injury on 30 minutes and that gave a debut to Ethan Goulding who really impressed with his powering forward, easing the pressure off the Jets defence.

Jets had to dig in even more in the second half, and skipper Tommy Kennard was absolutely awesome today, leading the team and contesting everything, while Owen Ayres was given praise by the staff.

Just six minutes from time Jets hearts were broken when a slack forward play broke down and the hosts swung immediately. Jets did get the ball out for a throw that was rushed and Jets were caught out and to the roar of the home supporters the ball was drilled home, yet again a late goal killer against Jets !!

But wait, the boys in Carlsberg green today did a Carlsberg moment and went for broke and with stoppage time running out Kieran Patterson got on the end of another searching piercing ball from Ethan Goulding but collided with a defender with the goal looming. Down went Kieran to penalty appeals from the bench but Ben Delicata was on hand to shoot the ball into the net for his first ever goal for the club and joyous scenes by the Jets lads.

The Carlsberg Jets Man of the Match was a two horse decision between Skipper Tommy Kennard and Kieran Patterson and Geoff Covey was today’s picker and he chose Kieran for his 90 minutes effort, even not remembering the goal.
