Young Jets Fall To Late Goal
Oxhey Jets 2 Rising Ballers Kensington 3

Young Jets put up a brave fight against Kensington Ballers last night but a late defensive lapse again cost them the match.
Jets were 0-2 down early as the defence just looked on and seemed to be on for a hiding against a side described by Jets management as “ by far the best team we’ve played this season”. They were on fire and the two wingers were roasting Jets and disaster looked imminent.
Wow, what a comeback and what a performance by this young Jets side. They picked up and went nose to nose with the unbeaten side lying second in the table behind high-spending Amersham Town.
Lewis Putman scored a long-range shot 1-2 and from there on Jets were very much back in the game in an end-to-end match.
The second half was even better as Jets to a man( or boy) stood up and gave their all and were rewarded with a second Lewis Putman strike to level at 2-2.
Jets were pushing and could and should have netted when a golden chance fell from a well-worked corner but was headed over when scoring looked easier.
It was heartbreak with eight minutes to go when the young referee gave an imaginary corner and in a recurring problem the Jets’ defence switched off and the guests scrambled the winner 2-3. The defending momentous switch-offs is becoming a regular problem that’s cost Jets the rewards for their massive efforts.
Jets received multiple praise from watching officials at the match from other clubs about how far this young side has come in a very short time under coaches and managers who truly encourage and promote football in the youngsters.
Man of the match went to Kevar McKenzie for what Tom Inch described as an “awesome performance against top quality wingers” for the 16-year-old.
Defeat yes but this side is superb to be with, no incentives, no demands just the love of the game and a willingness to progress under proper football coaches.
