Jets At Their Best

Jets put on a stunning display for the first half in their first trip to Hampshire for a league match as part of the FA’s pyramid formation to cut travel and give more local games !!!!!
Easter holidays saw Jets not struggling and praying for a reason not to play but fielding a very strong squad. It showed in a first half that was one of the team’s best for some time, against a strong Yateley side inside the play-off line and who had soundly beaten Jets at the Boundary 3-1 earlier in the season.
Jets were pinging the ball around and taking the game straight at their high-flying hosts, with Tom Inch’s words in their ears – ‘if you don’t enjoy playing you shouldn’t play, so go and enjoy yourself !!’
Jets opened the scoring just 13 minutes in when on-fire Remell Sterling hit a powerful cross that Andre Lopes hammered into the net in style giving the keeper no hope.
Just seven minutes later Jets doubled the lead with top scorer Owen Ayres striking inside the penalty area.
Jets really went for this but, on the breaks, the defence had to be on its toes and “Nugs” and Jameel and the centre two of Chippy and Craig were up to it but it still took three top-draw saves from Lewis Lavin in goal to protect the lead, but it was by far the home keeper having to pull off the saves to stop Jets extending their lead further.
Half Time 0-2
The second half was a totally different game, with Yateley needing to preserve their top four place, and the possession switched to the home side but the excellent Jets defence restricted their sights of goal, they threw everything in and completed an excellent Easter trip to a very good Yateley team and club, that even in defeat made us all very welcome.
Man of the Match was almost impossible so good were the team performances with nominations plenty. Nugs and Remell were shortlisted, but the unanimous choice went to Jameel after a very long discussion.
