Points dropped, or a fantastic point earned that’s the searching thoughts of both teams after the pulsating 4-4 draw at high-flying Belstone.

At kick-off, the hosts went at jets at speed not seen this season; their intensity was incredible, and when they broke the deadlock in the eighteen minutes when the defender lost position and the weak shot found the net, the result was almost feared around the sidelines.

 

Jets’ reaction was fantastic, and the response was to go back at the hosts, and the reward came on the half hour when some neat passing played in Tym Supernak wide, who took one touch and hammered past the keeper, 1-1 ( 31 min)

Jets thought they had a penalty as Dylan Hickman Singh was felled, but the official only saw yellow for the Jets winger to Jets anger.

Minutes later, it was Belstone furious when, rather unsportingly demanded a red card for Nicholas Brayshaw, who already was on a yellow, and that was compounded in stoppage time when he flicked on a glorious header to give Jets the lead at the break (1-2 45+2)

Jets this time were the team out of the blocks fast, and Don Mosca weaved his way through for a superb solo goal and slot, leaving former Jets centre-half James Kimber seated on the goal line. (1-3 49 mins)

The game was still end-to-end, and the hosts edged one back when Akinbulumo slotted (2-3 61 min)

 

Would Jets fold was the question, but no: the response was fast; another solo run finished by Dylan Hickman Singh gave jets the two-goal advantage again (2-4 70 min)

Jets threw the subs on, but unfortunately the intensity of the game was too much, and the changes momentarily unsettled Jets, and Thomaj headed unmarked at the back post (3-4 75 min) after a howler of a miss at the other end by Hickman Singh; then, in a deja vu moment, Mosca blasted a similar chance wide and within a couple of minutes Dush levelled for the hosts (4-4 85 mins)
It was now Jets hanging on and relieved to hear the whistle.

Both sides will look at how they didn’t win, and both are glad they didn’t lose; it was a cracker of a game.

Jets man of the match was much contested; there were some excellent performances, with Tym on a good start and goal, and he was in the mix, but the final decision was a shared award for Nicholas Brayshaw and Lucio Cappuccini, both having outstanding matches.
