Injury Hit Jets Fall To Relegation Rivals

After a successful February that saw Jets catch up with the relegation pack, an injury-hit Jets fell to a crucial 2-0 defeat at second-bottom Wokingham. Premier division safety though, whilst more difficult, is still in Jets hands with the remaining fixture list and games in hand.

Jets defended well and looked to have kept it scoreless to halftime before the added time rebound goal.
Jets were on track with halftime seconds away in stoppage time and a strong bench all recovering from injury and eager to get into the battle when disaster struck. True to Jets luck at the moment, the ball hits the post but unluckily for Jets rebounds straight to the same Wokingham player who bundles the ball over the line for 1-0 at the break.

Spencer Bellotti hits the post with the keeper beaten.
Two minutes into the second half it was all but over as a smart swivel shot made it 2-0. Spencer Bellotti, Sean Giordmaina and Henry Dudley were all thrown into the action, and Jets certainly improved, and if they could have got one back, and they went close, it would have been game on. Best chance was when Spencer Bellotti beat everyone but his shot hit the post but, unlike Wokingham’s opener, the rebound went away from Jets attackers.
Not to be tonight, but recent performances, despite narrow defeats, show that the team are capable of picking up points going forward.
The man of the match tonight went to skipper Tommy Kennard, providing the telling passes from midfield and again showing real leadership to the team.
