Jets had to come from a goal down to get the points at a very wet Boundary Stadium. Manager Tom Inch made some changes following the good win on Saturday, knowing Deportivo would be battling for points as the bottom of the table push hard to avoid the drop, leaving some clubs nervously looking over their shoulders.
It was quite a fast-paced game, and a complete defensive misunderstanding gave the visitors the lead when Lucio Cappuccino poked the back pass past his own keeper, and despite a frantic chase, the ball ended up in the net 0-1 ( 4 minutes ).
Jets recovered well and took the game to the visitors, and a peach of a cross found the run of Liam Osborne perfectly to head into the side of the net 1-1 (25 min)
Jets continued to push, and Lucio thought he had scored at the proper end, but his celebration was cut short by the assistant’s flag.
With half time looming, George Rice was put clear and perfectly placed his shot wide of the keeper and in off the post 2-1 (44 mins): In the second half, Deportivo came at Jets, and as the weather deteriorated and the rain lashed down, Jets had to dig in hard and challenge every ball to hang onto the points.
Jets’ final test was whether the match would finish as a mini-tornado, and lashing rain blew away the Veo camera, leaving supporters running for the clubhouse, but Jets rode the storm and hung on for the points: 2-1 Jets. For the Man of the Match, Dom Mosca was again complimented, but the unanimous vote went to Simon Poulton for his incredible work rate and desire throughout the match.
