JETS BOUNCE BACK WITH A LAST-MINUTE LEVELLER

Jets got a very good point on the road against a strong, in-form Victoria team, mostly thanks to a much-improved second half.
The first half was dreadful and fuelling the despondency of a difficult season. Again we fell behind due to dreadful passing, when not for the first time this season misplaced passing in the penalty area only played in an attacker for an easy slot 1-0 and not much to threaten that changing up to the break and only a string of saves by young Austin Ayres held things in range.
Although a manager’s talk should and will stay private, it’s fair to say a rare loss, if diplomacy by the manager clearly stunned the team.
A different Jets came out, and for the first time in three/four games we looked up for the fight and at last cleared how to attack and even complete passes.
The game was different, and suddenly it was no surprise to equalise a cutting cross-pitch ball sent the lively Dylan Roberts away, and his unselfish, inch-perfect call was on a plate for Dominic Mosca to tap home 1-1
Unfortunately, the game swung again just six minutes later, and Jets were chasing again, but this time they chased hard, dug in, and really went for broke, with Dylan Roberts looking the lad who might swing it!
Deep into stoppage time, the keeper came well out of his area as he had been most of the game; this time the assistant was level to catch him, and it took an age for the referee to see the flag, so Jets feared it was being ignored. Still, finally the referee gave the kick as it should be, right on the line, dead central.

Jets threw everyone up; it was a last-gasp, and thankfully Lewis Davis struck perfectly out of reach of the full stretch and into the net 2-2 and a good fight back and much needed point.
Man of the match was a youngster from the 18s who opted to stay with Jets and today unambiguously took the award, Dylan Roberts.
