The Jets open their new campaign with this home mid week game and London Colney providing the opposition.
Both sides opened the game in a bright form with plenty of attacking football and chances being created in both halves, but it was the Jets who were looking the team gaining the advantage as they applied pressure on the London Colney defence, forcing some fine saves from their keeper. It was in the 20th minute that against the run of play it was London Colney who were to make the break through and open the scoring with a run in the centre which was to see a volley from just outside the Oxhey area enter the net giving David Jacks no chance of a save, and the score opened at 0-1.
The Jets appeared to flag with the one goal and it was they who were now under pressure having lost the advantage of play, and it was soon to prove another deflating moment, when in the 25th minute London Colney made a run on the left which provided them time to send in a cross which reached the Jets near post and after a momentary scuffle the ball slid into the corner of the net to double the London Colney score-line to 0-2 which was to see the game through to the break.
The second half again found the Jets playing the best football, and only further fine saves from the London Colney keeper preventing them from making their mark on the score line. All efforts were to pay as in the 55th minute Ian Holdom made one of his many runs on the right and send a cross into the centre, which was met by Paul Danslow who turned on his opponent and drive the ball into the London Colney net, and the Jets were now back in the game at 1-2.
The Jets pressure continued and in little time they were once again rewarded. In the 59th minute once again it was Ian Holdom on the right who was once again to become the provider as yet another cross was delivered into the centre, this time collected by Jordan Bennifer who opened his account for the Jets by sending in a strong, low shot into the netting and bringing the Jets level at 2-2.
London Colney came back at the Jets and applied some pressure, but with time now running out it was looking as if the spoils were to be shared as the game entered it’s 86th minute. London Colney were given time and space to make a run on the left and after cutting into the Jets area send a low, but not strong shot into the Jets net and making a last gasp addition to the score at 2-3.
