Jets at home for their last home fixture of the season before embarking on a five game tour on the road, but in the meantime it was Holmer Green that were their opponents for the day.
Both sides soon settled into some attacking football with both creating chances and it was soon obvious to the Jets that the Holmer Green keeper was going to be a tough barrier, as he made some fine saves from both Gary Page and Adam Lowton, and as the half wore on, it was looking hard to see who, if anyone was going to open the scoring.
It was in the 35th minute that it was to change, as the Jets were awarded a corner on the left, and waiting in the six yard area was Anthony Shepherd to guide the ball over the Holmer line to give the Jets the 1-0 lead.
It was one of the shortest held leads of sometime, when in the 37th minute Holmer broke free in the centre and a high lob from the edge of the centre circle made just one high bounce which found it’s way over the keeper’s head and into the Jets net to level the score at 1-1.
The Jets pressed forward, but once again the Holmer keeper produced a powerful display to keep them at bay, and with the break being reached with no further addition to the score it appeared that the afternoon was going to be a hard fought affair.
The second half found a Holmer side who were entering their brightest spell, but again both sides offered little promise of a goal as the time passed and the game entered it’s final twenty, when in the 70th minute Holmer advanced up the left, cut into the centre and released a stinging shot into the Jets goal to put them behind for the first time at 1-2.
The Jets reply was instant, when in the 72nd minute Lewis Putman was to make one of his many runs on the left and working his way into the corner before sending an inch perfect cross to be met by Adam Lowton who secured his first goal of the afternoon and bring the Jets back into contention at 2-2.
The Jets were now in scoring mode as time and time again they tested the Holmer keeper, who continued to foil their efforts with some outstanding saves. The game now drawing towards the final ten minutes, could the Jets hang on to salvage a point from this game? All was to be answered in the 81st minute when it was now Gary Page who was to show his pace on the right, and turn provider with a cross to match that of Lewis Putman, but the final touch was to be the same, as once again it was Adam Lowton who was waiting to find his brace and once more the Jets were ahead at 3-2, could they now hold on for the three points?
Substitutions had been made by the Jets, one being Dean Seabrook and it was he who was to make his mark in the 82nd minute when the Jets broke on the left and produced a low powerful drive from him to find the keeper flat footed and this time unable to deal with the shot which moved the Jets score on to 4-2.
The Jets drive continued as they showed their resilience that had deserted them of late and the final nail was provided in the 87th minute when the Jets were again awarded a corner on the right and with the ball entering a crowded six yard box, it was the head of Adam Lowton that sent the ball into the net to provide him with his hat trick for the afternoon, and give the Jets a well deserved score-line of 5-2.
