Yet another daunting league fixture as the Jets made the long trip to league leaders Hoddesdon Town.
There was a little trepidation in the Jets changing room as they prepared to face the league leaders, but all was pushed behind them as from the start they placed the Hoddesdon side under pressure and before they could settle, the Jets made their mark for the afternoon as in the 4th minute the pace of Gary Page was to tell on the right as he made a run into the right corner before sending a cross into the Hoddesdon box. The man waiting for his opportunity to open his account was Ryan Murray and with a good strike sent the ball into the net and the Jets were on their way at 0-1.
The Jets remained in control following the goal and when the Hoddesdon number nine made some fine runs into the Jets area the defence held tight and caused some frustration to the attacking players. The Jets lead was soon to be doubled, when once again another piercing run on the right by Gary Page in the 18th minute, and another cross into a crowded Hoddesdon box found the keeper coming to collect, but missing his intended target (the ball) but another player made no such mistake as this time Adam Lowton was to make his shot tell and extend the Jets lead to 0-2.
Little was to change after the second goal as the Jets kept a commanding grip of the game and in the 34th minute once again that man Page was on the hunt into the right corner, and once again his cross was delivered into the now usual crowded Hoddesdon box and on this occasion it was again Ryan Murray who was to claim his brace with a powerful header into the net and the score line extended to 0-3
This third goal brought the Hoddesdon squad to life, as they enjoyed one of their brightest periods of the game, but they were unable to break through the Jets defence and change the score to give them some glimmer of hope before the break.
The second half bought some end-to-end football with once again, as with so many occasions chances were made and missed by both sides. A substitution was made by the Jets which brought into play Steve King who, in the 71st minute as to become the provider for the Jets last goal as he was to receive the ball on the right before making a cross into the box to provide Adam Lowton with his brace and the final goal for the Jets at 0-4.
A further substitute was made with the appearance of Andrew Beck taking his step up and making his debut appearance for the side, showing his potential, and a certain selection at some time in the future.
Although the game became very physical in the latter stage there was to be no further change to the score and it terminated with a good day at the office for the Jets.
