Jets had one of their best days of the season when the first team got even younger and smashed five goals in the net during a rare victory at Leverstock Green. Jets were unsettled by the last minute withdrawals of Wayne Gladdy and Ian Bywater, so Chris Killer was given a start in midfield and repaid Jets with an outstanding performance.
Man of the match Lee Armitt was the goal scoring hero with a first half hat-trick and four overall as Jets punished the home team at every opportunity. Strangely it was Green who had most of the early chances and at 0-0 they thought they had scored but were denied on the line by skipper Chris Ingham, who was also on hand to clear strongly from another attack.
Minutes later, the price was paid by Green when a weak defensive header was pounced on by LEE ARMITT who made no mistake. Luke Beardsworth combined with Tim O'Mara time and time again to open the defence and LEE ARMITT was happily finishing the job off completing his 31min Hat-Trick to give Jets a 3-0 advantage despite most of the scoring opportunities falling to Leverstock Green.
Luke Beardsworth forced the ‘keeper to make an outstanding save and Chris Killer headed just over as Jets looked like scoring every time they went forward.
Jets were buoyant at the interval and were even happier when the County Cup semi-final latest score came through that the reserves were 2-0 up at the break.
Jets powered on after the break although the game did die away a little, but the important next goal went Jets way and again it was LEE ARMITT who went onto a super through ball from Killer to lob the keeper with class for his, and Jets, fourth.
Jets lost Beardsworth injured and then the fairy-tale began for 16-year old academy player LEWIS COOK who came on for his debut straight up to the first team and, courtesy of Lee Armitt squaring while one on one, hammered home a debut goal, and his delight was clear for all to see.
Carl Wigg then came off the bench and looked to have scored as he "nuts the keeper" but to his horror the ball came back off the post to deny him.
After a fantastic performance, Jets then ended with a sloppy period that angered manager Benny Higham.
Two goals in stoppage time for Leverstock ruined the clean sheet (although Chris Harding’s mistake for the second did give him the correct score forecast in the ‘Moaners Mount’ sweepstakes - funny that!), but nobody could deny the superb away win by the young Oxhey team.
