Happy Halloween for Jets

Jets 4 Kingsbury London Tigers 3

Spartan South Midlands Premier
31st October 2009

Oxhey pulled of a super 4-3 against a very skillful Kingsbury London Tigers. Jets had the usual match day pull outs to disrupt the preparations but started the game brightly, although Tigers really were a skillful team playing outstanding football to grace the excellent surface at Oxhey.

Jets were quickly a goal down, properly against the run of play with a classic byline and cross stabbed home at the back post.

This very quickly became 0-2 with a long range shot into the top corner of the net. The game looked over as Tigers were on top in the midfield and passing and spraying the ball around, with Jets Steve Brown, who had been taken to hospital earlier in the day with a work injury putting on a outstanding man of the match display.

Jets life line came on the brink of half time when Jamie Arthur opened up the Tigers flank and his back post ball was put in by TIM O'MARA on his first team return.. Half time 1-2

Just two minutes after the start LUKE BEARDSWORTH hit another outstanding goal from a Lomas ball to put Jets level.

Kingsbury looked shaken and stirred as Jets dominated now and LUKE BEARDSWORTH added his second to edge Jets 3-2 up and lead for the first time.

Jamie Arthur came off injured and Jets looked tired and were pushed back when Jets were rocked in the last ten minutes with a Halloween Penalty decision that was frightening for most to watch in horror !!  But it was not a trick or treat, it was serious and Kingsbury calmly slotted the penalty to make it 3-3.

Now both sides were going for it and a neutral would have said blow now referee, but in a final twist deep into stoppage time Tim O'Mara was pushed to the ground and LUKE BEARDSWORTH withstood all the gamesmanship to win the match for Jets 4-3.

Unfortunately the referee decided to only hear the reply to the gamesmanship and gave Beardsworth a straight red to ruin both of their games. The league news letter say teams only moan about the officials when they lose, we won.... selective hearing and numerous cautions in a high octane FOOTBALL match with hardly a foul worth a mention, surely makes you wonder why.

Super match by both teams. Great fightback and result for Jets.
