Jets pulled off a revenge cup win over Hertford Town on a misty night at the Boundary Stadium. Jets lost 3-0 two weeks ago at Hertford, and pre match the disruption was not good preparation with Stevie "Ball Boy" Brown causing mayhem at work, causing him to be late for the kick off, Wayne Gladdy getting called in to work and Spencer Bellotti withdrawing injured. Colin Jenkins and Lee inch were recalled and Steve Duce put in goal for Joe Marsh.
Jets started playing some keep ball football with Hertford relying on the breaks. Jets then got the lead after just 18minutes when Tim O'Mara put JAMIE ARTHUR through to hammer hard into the net from a tight angle.
LUKE BEARDSWORTH doubled Jets lead in the 25th minute with one of the best goals scored at the ground, flicking the ball over a Town defender and then going round him to collect the ball and scorching a looping shot into the top corner of the net. Half Time 2-0
Jets expected a Hertford revival at the start of the second half but this was dented early on when Kevin Cooper saw straight red for throwing the ball at Ian Bywater. Shortly after this a super multi pass movement with three advantages played by the referee saw TIM O'MARA slot home for 3-0 (68 minutes) to give Jets a clear lead.
Hertford rallied and pulled one back two minutes later but LUKE BEARDSWORTH made Jets safe with a blistering drive in the 77th minute.
Hertford completed the scoring in stoppage time with a free kick round the Jets wall.
Jets Play Potters Bar in the next round in December.
