Dismal Day for Jets

Hertford Town 3 Jets 0

Spartan South Midlands Premier
17th October 2009

Jets will wonder how they quite lost this match by such a score-line, but the added injuries will worry them more.

Hertford is never a happy hunting ground for Jets and Town started brightly, but Jets forced there way back into the match with some neat football on an awful playing surface. Lee Inch returning from a golf holiday looked sharp, and Beardsworth and Gladdy always threatened.

Jets took the upper hand, although too many Jets chances are wasted by players not pulling the trigger, and so often looking for the perfect pass.

The big blow came for Jets when Tom inch was felled with a bad knee injury that could keep him out for some time, as yet another of Jets young lions that have refreshed the side so much fall foul of the dreaded injury list.

Minutes later Jets Man of the match Steve Brown committed a silly reckless foul that was converted direct from the edge of the box and Hertford’s tails were up.

The bitter match costing goal was in first half stoppage time when a weak shot was spilled by keeper Joe Marsh under no pressure.

Jets were disappointed but things got worse when Ben Chandler and Luke Beardsworth were also lost to injury and another mistake by Marsh led to Hertford completing the scoring.

There were very few thrills and plenty of spills on the difficult pitch, but Jets can only blame themselves for gifting a comfortable win to the home side.
