Defensive mistakes cost Jets

Hadley 2 Jets 1

Spartan Premier Division
11 August 2010

A fairly close but stale game looked to be petering out to an unsurprising 0-0 draw when a combined double tackle from Lee Grace and Chris Ingham in the 91st minute pulled down a Hadley forward in the Jets penalty area for a stonewall penalty. Hadley converted for 1-0 and looked to have won the game. But then, in the 93rd minute, Wayne Gladdy burst through the Hadley defence and fired home from 15 yards from an acute angle to level it at 1-1.

Jets looked like they had salvaged a deserved draw but they paid the price for some poor defending from a disputed free-kick a minute later allowing Hadley to stab home the winner.

The first half had been pretty even. Hadley's best chances saw them hit the bar and the post. Jets also had two good efforts from Chris Harding but the first half finished goalless.

After an uneventful second half Jets looked like they had taken the lead in the 80th minute when Steve Brown climbed high before putting the ball in the net, but he was ruled to have gained an advantage by climbing on another Jets player.

Then, with both sides looking like they were accepting the draw, the drama of added time brought with it Hadley's second win in 4 days, and Jets second defeat.
