Jets pulled off a super Floodlight Cup Quarter Final win over Rymans North side Cheshunt on a bitter cold evening at the Boundary stadium.
For both teams it was their third game in just six days and Cheshunt were buoyant from their County Cup semi-final victory over Hemel Hempstead.
It was Jets, however, who started the more fired up and took the lead, after just 12 minutes, when TIM O'MARA dribbled and jinked before shooting home past Cheshunt defenders and a ‘keeper diving at his feet.
Jets were in full command in the first half and they doubled their lead (30min) with an angled high shot from LEE ARMITT into the top of the net.
The game did drift away after this and both sides looked tired and a little leg weary. In what was a great result for Jets, the disappointment was the three yellow cards for reckless tackles.
The second never lived up to the first, and was for long periods looking like it needed a Cheshunt goal to liven things up. Luckily for jets this did not happen as Jets put up the shutters to keep a clean sheet and played the game out.
Jets now have a semi final tie against the winner of Stanstead and Royston to look forward to.
