Jets Young Guns Grab the Glory

Broxbourne Borough 2 Jets 4

Spartan South Midlands Premier
29th September2009

Jets made it three on the trot with a super away win at high flying Broxbourne V+E. Luke Beardsworth made it a great start heading home Andrew Lomas’ inch perfect cross after only 4 minutes, and before Broxbourne could regain there composure Adam Lowton smashed home a long distance drive off the post after a solo run (5 Min).

Broxbourne were rattled but are a class side so they started to fight back and on 17min forced a good save from Joe Marsh in the Oxhey goal. Jets were pegged back when Marsh failed to come for a cross and the resulting Marc Ayres header was picked up by Doolin who hammered home from 30 yards without Marsh moving.

Joe Marsh, however, more than made up for his mistake with the best save of the match in the 41st minute when he somehow turned a deflected shot over the bar from close range that would have given Broxbourne the deserved equaliser after a long spell of pressure. In between the Broxbourne attacks, Jets were looking for the breaks and Beardsworth almost increased Jets lead when he shot inches over the bar. Despite that, it was Jets who were the team glad to hear the half time whistle and turn around 2-1 in front.

Straight from kick off Lee Inch ran at the Broxbourne defence on a amazing run and smashed home from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 to Jets. Broxbourne, however, immediately pulled one back straight from the kick off after Stevie Brown got into a muddle and presented Karagul with an one on one and, despite a good effort by Marsh in goal, he slotted home to bring it back to 2-3.

This time it was Jets that controlled the half with Lowton and Beardsworth a continuous threat. Lowton did have the ball in the net but was ruled offside on a tight call from another inch perfect pass.

Man of the Match Lee Inch should have scored from a header right on the goal line to complete his night, but went wide of the post before Adam Lowton chased a lost cause and forced the error from the goalkeeper before slotting sideways for Luke Beardsworth to compose himself and hammer home his second and Jets fourth (73mins).

Jets young guns were now in control and they saw out the reminder of the half, and added time, to earn Jets three very good away points. The difference seven days makes with the new line up and nine points and the smiles are back on the players faces.
