Jets hosted top of the table Haringey Borough in what proved to be a very entertaining match. Haringey started brightly against a jets side trying out a new formation and were causing lots of problems down their right side but it was Jets who took the lead when a good through ball gave Lewis Cook the chance to finish smartly with a low drive to the bottom corner.
It took Haringey 15 mins to respond to that goal on the scoresheet but as has been the case for us this year one goal very quickly lead to another and we found ourselves 2-1 down. Jets were trying to play some good football and managed it in one or two isolated occasions but we found ourselves chasing shadows as Haringey were playing some very good fast flowing football, their play probably deserved more goals but we managed to survive to the interval.
We had a very constructive half time chat and our performance in the second half was a big improvement as we managed to contain the Haringey movement and passing and started to string a bit of football together ourselves, both Liam Coles and Lewis Cook both went close to equalising before Jack Keeble finished off a good move to get us back level, well deserved by the team and Jack who was having a very good game.
With Richard Jarrett playing sweeper for the first time in his life marshaling all around him very well.
As has been the case so often this season we just fell short of gaining a great result when the Haringey right winger scored a great individual goal cutting in from the wing and curling a low shot into the far corner, with just four minutes remaining we pushed centre back Ollie Broughton forward and to our credit we should have been rewarded with a penalty when Liam Coles was brought down a yard into the box but the referee gave us a free kick right on the edge. Haringey did score again with last kick of the game as we pushed forward.
Haringey ended the game relieved to have sealed the all important points to them and felt we had caused them a lot of problems in the second half, so another defeat but a much better performance than the previous week, another reminder handed out by the three substitutes used that they are also pushing for a place in the starting 11.
The learning curve for the season continues with our next fixture being away in the cup to Dunstable Town Blues by all accounts the best side around !
MAN OF THE MATCH: - Jack Keeble
